RTR12, Feb 19-22, 2004

RTR12 was a complete success! Nearly 100 riders made it from all points of the country - New Jersey, Florida, California, Washington, Colorado, Illinois, Missouri and more states were represented in this remote part of West Texas. The weather was perfect - a few clouds, but no rain and the temperatures were ideal.  The 12th Ride The Rio had a number of new features, including the new HQ (The Chisos Mining Company Motel), the Thursday night cookout, and a return to the Starlight Theater for the Saturday night banquet. Plans are already underway for RTR13, the weekend of Feb 18-20, 2005 - we hope to duplicate all the successes of RTR12! See you there!

Texas Bluebonnets under the Big Bend Sky.   Who says you have to have a motorcycle to participate in RTR?

The view east from RTR HQ.   Danny and Don (r) never miss RTR. Danny makes the trip from North Texas, Don rides in from California.

  RTR12 Registration.   Sunset at RTR.

Special thanks to CycleGear for sponsoring the Friday night Tailgate Bar-B-Q.   Kathy enjoys the scenery along one of the most challenging roads in the country: The River Road (TX170).
How many rallies provide you with a rock on the Rio Grande?   Roadrunners (Geococcyx californianusare) not uncommon in the Texas Big Bend. They're fast enough to catch and eat rattlesnakes.

Sam had to leave her Z50 in the van and hike to this ideal photo spot. Poor kid.   RTR returned to the Starlight Theater after a ten year absence.  The food, drink, and entertainment were top shelf and one of the highlights of the weekend.

That's not a helmetless stand-up wheelie! It's just Steve unloading his VFR from the truck after driving from New Jersey.   This motley bunch rode their dualsports through the Texas Big Bend and saw parts of Texas not many get the chance to see.

Have a dualsport? Bring it to RTR!   Pricklypear Cactus sits high above the Rio Grande.

Bikes parked along TX118 just north of Big Bend National Park.   Aerostich high above the Rio Grande.

The Hungry Javelina served not only the best breakfast burritos, but also as the morning staging point for many riders.   RTR HQ: The Chisos Mining Company Motel (CMCM).
